Welcome!  By education, I am a historian of early America.  By vocation, I am a teacher and a writer.  While I work outside academia, I remain historically minded.

Much of my creative energy goes into course design. I have been teaching a full-year course on Atlantic World History since 2006 and a full-year course on Modern European History since 2016. Follow the “Atlantic World” and “Europe” tabs for some thoughts on resources and course design.

As a trained historian working outside academia, I still write a lot, much of it historical, but mostly in short and accessible forms: encyclopedia articles, magazine articles, essays on teaching, personal essays. Follow the “Writing” tab for links to some of my writing.
